Dear Donors, Colleagues, and Friends,
First of all, Hearts For Hue would like to send our warmest greetings and best wishes to all of you and express our sincere thanks for your support of disadvantaged people in Vietnam. We would like to share with you an overview of what our organization was doing from November to December 2020. Please take a look at our project highlights below:
VESAF Loan Disbursement in Huong Van Commune
Under the sponsorship of VESAF (USA), Hearts for Hue in collaboration with People’s Committee of Huong Van Commune has implemented a second round – loan distribution for 50 households in Huong Van Commune, Huong Tra Town, Thua Thien Hue Province. This is timely support from VESAF to assist local people to restore their livelihood and step by step settle down after the disaster. See more
Training on water supply and environmental sanitation for the residents and teachers of Quang Nham commune
As part of our “Promoting hygiene and sanitation in Quang Nham commune”, Hearts For Hue, supported by The PiCCA (Aus) and in collaboration with Quang Nham People’s Committee, are working together to improve the sanitation conditions in A Luoi. On December 3rd , the training on water supply and environmental sanitation was organized for local people and teachers in Quang Nham commune, A Luoi district. VESAF,NFP Scholarship
On 25th November, under the sponsorship of VESAF, Hearts For Hue in collaboration with Hue University to start the Scholarship Program for underprivileged students of Hue University. At the Award Scholarship Ceremony, 36 students from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Economic, and Facility of Tourism have received VESAF, NFP Scholarship with the total fund of 10.800 USD. This is the third time the VESAF has sponsored a scholarship for underprivileged students who demonstrate their strong academic study results. The representative of VESAF in Vietnam – Mr Truong Trong Khanh has shared: “I hope that the VESAF will motivate the underprivileged students to overcome their difficulties plight and accomplish themselves and get closer to your dream. Simultaneously, the VESAF Scholarship encourages them in social work to become a global and productive citizen in the future.” See more
Providing school supplies for children affected by flood
Due to the storms and flood disaster, Hearts for Hue have worked with management boards of primary and secondary school partners where Hearts for Hue cooperated with Universities from Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia to implement community service programs to get to know the overview about disaster damages to these schools especially student school books. Educational facilities support for kindergarten affected by the flood
Due to the affection of the disaster, a range of kindergarten facilities was submerged by floodwater from 1,5m – 2m. As a consequence, all the kindergarten materials and equipment are badly damaged such as shelves, children’s toys and games, books, chairs, desks and so on. They were made from plywood which is really difficult to be protected. See more
Post Flood Livelihood Recovery
According to the data of the Zingnews.vn, at least 130 people were killed, 20 people are not found. A thousand houses were badly damaged and other crops were buried in flood and mud. In addition, nearly 950,000 cattle and poultry were killed and swept away. The flooding has devastated Hue and cut off the food supplies to the families across the remote areas. See more
