Hearts for Hue would like to send our warmest greetings, best wishes and express our sincere thanks for your support of disadvantaged people in Vietnam. In 2020, Hearts for Hue has accomplished a lot that we are incredibly proud of.

Here is a brief overview of 2020, followed by highlights from December.

Disability Support Programmes

Chicken Program for Disadvantaged and People with Disabilities

Under the sponsorship of the Rotary, Hearts for Hue implemented the chicken raising program successfully. The program has benefited for 150 people with disability. See more

Improving Livelihoods of Victims of Agent Orange in A Luoi

Hearts for Hue worked with 20 families suffering from the effects of Agent Orange in the A Luoi mountains, to provide small scale goat raising opportunities which Veterans for Peace (VFP) are generously continuing to support. See more

Kindergarten Facilities Improvement

Thanks for the continuous support of the DOVE FUND, a standard kitchen was started building in July, 2020 and the construction is scheduled to complete in November, 2020. The spacious building will be divided into 5 areas: storage area, pre – process area, cooking area, composing area, washing area. The new kitchen system enables the cooking staff in cooking operations for more convenience. Moreover, the raw and cooked food will not overlap, pre-process areas and washing areas will be separated to ensure hygiene, safety and high-quality food.  See more

Microfinance

Our microfinance program continues to provide disadvantaged women the capital to begin or expand their own businesses and is performing exceptionally. Since its inception in 2011, the DOVE Fund has sponsored 449 clients with 1592 loans. Particularly in 2020, the DOVE Fund sponsored program has  237  borrowers and 130 additional loans. Since its inception in 2017, VESAF has sponsored 388 borrowers with 615 loans. In 2020, VESAF  has 375 clients with 156  additional loans.   See more

Scholarships

VESAF Scholarship

Under the sponsorship of VESAF, Hearts For Hue has distributed scholarships for over 180 underprivileged students from Hue University, Primary School, Secondary School, and Highschool in Hue. These students, all of whom are from families experiencing serve financial and medical hardship, were awarded scholarships for their strong academic performance. The scholarship program has been implemented since 2018.    See more

Ngay Mai Scholarships for Children

“Ngay Mai” means tomorrow, and in 2020, these scholarships helped form a brighter tomorrow for 88 primary and secondary school students in the mountainous Xuan Loc commune. As Mr Agustin, patron of the Ngay Mai scholarship programme explains, these scholarships are equally about increasing academic performance as decreasing school dropouts in young children. See more

Flooding Disaster Relief Fund

In September, Hue has been hitting by a number of severe typhoons and floods. The people again have been suffering a great loss of lives and poverty. According to the data of the Zingnews.vn, at least 130 people were killed, 20 people are not found. A thousand houses were badly damaged and other crop were buried in flood and mud. In addition, nearly 950,000 cattle and poultry were killed and swept away. The flooding has devastated Hue and cut off the food supplies to the families across the remote areas.

With the generous of the donors, Hearts for Hue have raised a relief fund for the flooding disaster relief program. Hearts for Hue has taken actions to provided a timely relief and rehabilitation to address the immediate needs for 452 households of vulnerable communities in areas most affected by the flooding.   

In addition, within the framework of the program, in the second phase,  Hearts for Hue has delivered 1500 packages of of school books and school supplies for 1500 disadvantaged students in the most flooding-affected areas. The fund mainly come from: See more 

Promoting hygiene and sanitation in Quang Nham and Hong Ha Commune

Sanitation is a basic human need, however in Quang Nham and Hong Ha Commune, there are many people still lack basic sanitation services. The large number of people still practice open defecation.  Under the sponsorship of the DOVE Fund (USA) and the PiCCA (AUS)  , Hearts for Hue has been implementing the project Promoting hygiene and sanitation in Quang Nham Commune and Hong Ha Commune to assist 65 households to build 65 standard latrines.

International Service Programmes

Bamboo Tours Service Programme

The year gone saw 2 Bamboo Tour groups volunteer their time and labour in marginalised households in Hue. They funded and built chicken coops, toileting facilities, cemented living room floors and other household essentials. Due to the covid 19, some of projects have been postponed, we hope the programme continues to be back soon.
