The D.O.V.E Fund Trip in Vietnam 2023

Hearts for Hue is honored to welcome the D.O.V.E Fund back to Vietnam after 2 years of the Covid pandemic on January 5-7, 2023. On this visit, the delegation included Chairman Mr. Charles Allan Hawes, Vice Chairman Mr. Nguyen Khac Do, Mr. Fred Grimm, and 12 enthusiastic members of the organization. In recent years, with the support of the D.O.V.E Fund, Hearts for Hue has been implementing many programs to improve poverty in Thua Thien Hue province

We are very proud to have submitted many proposals to the D.O.V.E Fund for consideration and have been approved by this organization and funded a variety of programs, including the construction of schools and kindergartens, water supply and sanitation projects, moreover, distribution of solar lights or personal mobility chairs for the disabled. On this annual visit to Vietnam in 2023, with the support of Hearts For Hue, the D.O.V.E Fund visited a number of project sites and gave gifts and solar lights to poor children and disadvantaged households.

1. A visit to Tay Xuan Kindergarten, Huong Xuan Commune for a kitchen opening ceremony

On the morning of January 5, the delegation visited and inaugurated the kitchen construction project at Huong Xuan kindergarten (Tay Xuan campus). The kitchen is a place where meals can be served to preschool children from 3 to 6 years old and teachers at the school. At that time, the organization was welcomed by representatives of the local government and the Education and Training Department of Huong Tra town. In addition, the D.O.V.E. Fund also gave gifts to more than 200 children from Huong Xuan Kindergarten.

2. THE project of clean water supply and environmental sanitation implemented in the A Luoi area

The visit on the afternoon of 5 Jan to the water supply and sanitation project was carried out in mountainous and remote communities of the A Luoi area. The project built 50 toilets for 50 poor households in Hong Ha commune which has significantly improved the living conditions of the people there. Moreover, the organization donated 50 solar lights sponsored by Vu Phong company and visited a number of households that built toilets sponsored by the D.O.V.E Fund.

3. the handwashing project at Quang Phu primary school

On the morning of January 6, 2023, the organization visited the handwashing project at Quang Phu primary school in the framework of the program “Improving the handwashing system and practicing personal hygiene for children” in 12 primary schools in Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. In addition, members of the D.O.V.E Fund also participated in handwashing and reading activities with the students.

4. A warm visit to the Social Center where the D.O.V.E Fund has created many jobs for PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS

This was followed by the visit of the D.O.V.E Fund organization at the Social Center within the framework of the project “Vocational training and job creation for people with mental illness in the Social Center in Hue.” This program has been implemented since 2015 with many activities of raising chickens, and ducks, and growing clean vegetables at the center. The purpose of the program is to support people with mental illness through production activities. Up to now, the program has developed very well with a total of thousands of chickens and ducks, which are the main source of food for the patients at the center.

5. the Microfinance PROGRAM in Vy Da Ward

Finally, members of the organization visited a number of small businesses starting up with the support of a microfinance project sponsored by the D.O.V.E Found in Vy Da ward. Microfinance for poor women has been implemented since 2011 with 20 women participating. Up to now, the program has supported loans, created jobs, and increased incomes for more than 500 women in Thua Thien Hue province. It can be said that visiting these small businesses is a good way to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the microfinance program.

The D.O.V.E Fund trip in 2023 was the opportunity for all the members of this organization to learn how the endeavors made by the D.O.V.E. Fund for the sustainable development in Vietnam. At Hearts For Hue, we will continue to do our best to submit meaningful projects to the D.O.V.E Foundation for approval.
