Small grants can make a big different

Hearts for Hue have built up a long-lasting partnership with the Australia Volunteers Program since 2014. The program offers a range of opportunities for the Australian community to share skills and foster linkages with people and organizations in developing countries: to make a difference as part of Australia’s overseas aid program.

At the moments, Hearts for Hue is very delighted to inform that The Australian Volunteers Program has approved the grants AU$9,429.96 through Impact Fund to our project “Building the adaptive capacity of family chicken farmers to climate change in Huong Van Commune”

The aim of the project is to increase awareness by 30 poor/disadvantaged chicken farmers in the Hue region of adaptation options for responding to climate change. The capacity-building project will engage local communities in practical demonstrations and training activities on adaptation. The long-term benefit is more sustainable of chicken farming enterprises and communities which are more resilient and more likely to remain viable in the face of climate change.

The main activities that will be undertaken:

– Construct and display chicken coops which show how the impacts of climate change can be reduced

– Provide training on poultry husbandry practices for responding to climate change

– Provide training on marketing and sale in consuming market

– Demonstrate the advantages of new breeds of chicken better adapted to local conditions

– Demonstrate the advantage of poultry vaccine interventions for climate change

The project will be expected to implement in July 2021.

Hearts for Hue would like to express our deep gratitude to the Australian Volunteer Program for the long-lasting relationship and for your huge contribution to address the need of local community.
