A survey of smallholder chicken farming sponsored by Australian Volunteer Program

Within the framework of “Building the adaptive capacity of family chicken farmers to climate change in Huong Van” sponsored by Australian Volunteer Program, Hearts for Hue staff cooperated with officers from Huong Van People’s Committee and village headers to visit 40 families in two trips to choose 30 suitable families.

Through the visits, we had chance to see the real needs and get to know these family situations. Besides, the delegation provided them all brief introduction about project goal and activities which helped local people to have an overview about project. For the chicken coop, we showed them the pictures of chicken coop model and visit their old chicken/pig shelters/place that they want to build chicken coops to give some recommendation and sharing. This is to make sure they could clearly image about their chicken coop design in the near future.

After each trip, the survey team spent around 2 hours to discuss and choose suitable members to be taken part in “Building the adaptive capacity of family chicken farmers to climate change in Huong Van Ward supported by the Australian Volunteer Program.
