A monthly self-help group meeting was being held successfully

On February 27, 2019, Hearts For Hue in association with the Vinh Phu Commune People’s Committee organized a monthly self-help meeting within the framework of the project of Improving the living standard for people with disabilities in Vinh Phu commune through chicken raising program which is sponsored by the PiCCA (Australia).

Those who participated including Mr. Truong Trong Khanh – Chairman of Hearts for Hue, Mr. Huynh Van Su – a representative of Vinh Phu Commune People’s Committee,  Mr. Vu Van Tu – a livestock engineer, a director of Chicken Breeds Company along with people with disability and their families.

The meeting started with the sharing of the farmers about their situation of raising chickens, the rate of survival chicken and the diseases that chickens have got.  After collecting the ideas from the farmers, Mr Tu provided some practical solutions to assist people with a disability how to realize the symptoms of a disease and prevent common disease for chickens. At the same time, some typical households shared some experiences in developing further skills in veterinary and chicken raising techniques. Some households said they already sold chickens with an income of from 150,000 VND to 200,000 VNd per chicken, they used this source of income to cover their daily living expenses and especially, have a warmer and happier lunar new year holidays. Some of them were happy to say that some hens have started laying 3 to 5 eggs a day. Particularly, Hearts for Hue will offer loans under the Microfinance Project to the households who are in need of borrowing loans to expand their rasing scale. This is a good signal that people with disability have started to be more active and more confident in raising chickens with the knowledge they learned while participating in the project.
