OVERVIEW:
Heart for Hue’s Disability Support Program provides assistance to individuals living with a disability and families affected by agent orange. The Disability Support Project works to improve people’s living conditions through economic stability, job creation, house repair, and supporting their integration into society.
H4H’s Disability Support Program has supported more than 1000 people living with a physical or mental disability in Thua Thien Hue province.
PROJECT MODEL:
Individuals are given the materials and support needed to make a living off of farming animals, such as chickens, pigs, and goats. This includes teaching groups how to properly care for animals, providing initial vaccinations, building chicken coops, pig pens for animals, and goat shelters, teaching business practices, and providing financial support through microfinance to increase revenue.
Additionally, the project also supports house renovation for the poor families with disabilities, including replacing the roof, making a concrete yard, building toilets, etc.
