On Friday 18th September, Hue was hit by Storm Noul. Noul is the largest storm to have hit Hue in recent years, and wreaked havoc across the province. At least 6 people died, many more were injured and approximately 2,000 homes were destroyed or badly damaged.
The rural poor were the most effected. Their houses are least able to resist the storm; many have lost their roofs and walls. Unfortunately, local authorities will be least able to assist the rural poor in the recovery process.
The local people have “one more time” suffered the Negative Economic Shock after Covid 19 as the storm has destroyed crops and their houses. Some households have to borrow money or respond by eating less to save money in order to repair their house.
At the end of September, Hearts For Hue has raised 65,212,208 VND after crowdfunding. All the money raised goes toward supporting people in rebuilding their house and roofing in the aftermath of the Storm Noul. Hearts For Hue has provided timely supported 39 disadvantaged people in the remote areas who are hardest -hit by the storm in the recovery process.
Moreover, under the sponsorship of the PiCCA, Hearts For Hue has provided 50 sets of indispensable food which include: 1 bag of rice (10 kg), 1 box of instant noodles (30 packs), 1 bottle of fish sauce and 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 bag of msg, 1 bag of seasoning.
