Microfinance Casestory in Quang Phu, Hue City – Ms. Tran Thi Xay

On February 17, 2025, the Hearts for Hue Fund and the Quang Phu Commune Women’s Union conducted a field survey on the impact of the microfinance project on families in Quang Phu Commune, Quang Dien District, Hue City. Each family had its unique circumstances, but the most impressive story was that of Ms. Tran Thi Xay, an elderly woman full of resilience and optimism.
Upon our arrival, Ms. Xay welcomed us warmly and happily invited everyone inside. She offered us tea and traditional cakes that she had made herself. The atmosphere felt cozy as we sat together, chatted, enjoyed the cakes, and even tried to make cake molds, which is the simplest step in the cake-making process.

Ms. Xay shared that her husband had passed away due to a serious illness, leaving her to support her family on her own while ensuring her four children received a proper education. Previously, her cake business faced numerous challenges due to a lack of capital for purchasing ingredients in bulk. However, thanks to a loan from the Hearts for Hue Fund, she was able to expand her production, stockpile ingredients, and ensure a steady supply of cakes during the festive season. In the days leading up to Tet, her business became even busier, requiring her to hire additional workers to fulfill orders on time and maintain her reputation with customers. As a result, her family’s income has become more stable and prosperous.
