Within the framework of the “Eye-Care Outreach for Primary and Secondary School Students at 24 schools in Huong Tra Town, Thua Thien Hue Province”, sponsored by the DOVE Fund through the Hearts For Fund, activities continued to be implemented on November 9 and 16, 2024.
Hearts for Hue, in coordination with the Huong Tra Town Department of Education, the Huong Tra Town Medical Center, and Long Hoang Thanh Optical Company (Hue), organized eye refraction tests for more than 531 students from elementary and middle schools in the Binh Tien, Binh Thnh, Tu Ha, and Huong Van communes. These are the students who were selected from the screening sessions of over 5,000 students in the local communes and wards.
Through two rounds of examinations, the program has identified and provided free glasses to 289 students. At the same time, the children were also advised on how to protect their eyes and guided on the proper use of electronic devices to minimize negative impacts on their vision.
It is expected that the program will continue to conduct eye examinations and provide glasses for nearly 500 more students in the wards of Hương Xuân, Hương Chữ, Hương Toàn, and Hương Văn, with the goal of completion by December 2024.
