Wide Eyed Tour is a travel operator that offer volunteering opportunities to students participating in their tours. They operate throughout the world, and in November 2018 begun working with Hearts for Hue to add a volunteering component to their Vietnam tour.
For the past three days, a group of 22 people from Discovery College (Hong Kong) volunteered at Phu Luong 2 Primary school in the Phu Vang District, approximately 45 minutes from Hue city. This disadvantaged primary school was chosen for this project by Hearts for Hue in conjunction with their existing contacts and with the local authorities.
On the 4th, 5th and 6th November the volunteers, along with Hearts for Hue staff and local volunteers, renovated a window and door system and painted a beautiful mural, completed with a new appearance. To achieve this, the volunteers undertook tasks such as cleaning the windows and doors, drawing, coloring and painting.
Whilst the renovating was going on, another group of volunteers was inside the primary school with the students, teaching them basic English skills and working on developmental exercises, including singing, dancing, painting and drawing.
All the teachers and students of a Primary school are very happy to have the students in their school. Hearts for Hue would like to express our deep gratitude to the Wide Eyed Tours and Discovery College for making this project a success.
