At Ngày mai Scholarships children from disadvantaged families are our priority. We like to visit the children participating in our Program and to ask them to find out what they would like to have or what do they need. They demand books, bicycles, football balls and many other things. And whenever there is enough money in our accounts, we try to satisfy their wishes.
Months ago, Binh, one of the many bright children participating at Ngày mai Scholarships, told us that he wanted a PC. It is true that we needed to ask him three times what did he really want before he came back with such an amazing reply.
Binh’s request took us by surprise. Of course, there are not provisions in our very modest budget regarding such a thing. But we started to think about it. Absolutely unthinkable to buy a PC. But maybe a smart phone or a Tablet could do.
We believe that Tablets are suitable for children. So, we made an effort and there we went and delivered a Tablet to Binh. After monitoring the situation for a few weeks, we decided to start delivering Tablets to disadvantaged children based on school merits and other criteria.
Binh opened our eyes and showed us the way.
Nowadays Covid 19 poses a serious threat to many countries around the world. Vietnamese authorities have adopted very sensible measures. Consequently, some schools are moving children to online learning at home.
Disadvantaged families cannot afford PCs or Tablets and their children cannot access e-learning. Understanding the problem that disadvantaged families and their children are facing nowadays we have decided to make a financial effort so each family may have its own Tablet.
We strongly believe that Tablets are suitable for children and that the use of Tablets or other devices is a part of their schoolwork as well as a new world for children beyond school, full of opportunities, potential and technology
Tablets can be used to support children learning, even when children have special educational needs. Tablets are easy to handle, and children may interact with teachers, relatives, and friends. The use of Tablets could be engaging for children.
Nevertheless, parents must play an important role in the supervision of the use of the Tablets by children. The use of these devices can be detrimental because the overexposure to electronic devices or the bad use of them such as: age-appropriate filtering of content; password protection; email use; photographs, videos; use of social networking, etc. Parents should monitor use of online activity.
We are very happy to bring some technology to disadvantaged children. There we go.
On 25th May 2020, Hearts For Hue deliver another 14 tablets to 14 underprivileged students in Phu Gia Community and in Hue’s area.
