On October 16th, as part of the “Eye-care outreach program for primary and secondary school students in Huong Tra Town” sponsored by DOVE Fund, Hearts for Hue collaborated with Huong Tra’s Education and Training Department and Huong Tra Town’s Health Center to carry out the ToT sessions.
During the event, Doctor Ho Hoang Phuong Thao from Hue Eye Hospital dedicated the day to training on eye diseases, refractive errors, and screening and testing for refractive errors. The morning program for 10 doctors from 10 commune health centers (CHCs) took place at Huong Tra Town’s Health Center, while in the afternoon, 24 medical officers from primary and secondary schools in the area received instruction at the Department of Education and Training.
After the training, essential equipment, including a C-type eye chart, hand pointer, head magnifying glass, penlight, and occluder glasses, was provided for each CHC and school.
This training session aimed to equip medical staff and officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to screen for refractive errors and eye diseases in students and local residents. Furthermore, it outlined plans to continue screening students suspected of having refractive errors, compile a list, and organize four sessions to measure the vision and provide glasses for students in the coming months.
