THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE MUSHROOM PLANTING PROJECT AT THE SOCIAL CENTER IN THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE FUNDED BY DOVE FUND

With the sponsorship of DOVE Fund since August 2024, the Mushroom Planting Project at the Social Center in Thua Thien Hue Province has made significant contributions not only in improving the quality of life for patients but also in supporting the psychological treatment process and providing employment opportunities for them.

The Thua Thien Hue Social Center was established in 1986. It is a mental health facility that accommodates 584 patients. Over the past few years, the DOVE Fund has supported hundreds of patients and staff through animal-raising programs such as chicks, ducks, quails, and vegetable planting programs. These programs have brought about practical benefits for patients.

One of the program’s significant activities is the distribution of a mushroom substrate sterilizer to the center, which aims to increase the yield and quality of the mushrooms. The sterilization process helps eliminate bacteria and contaminants, ensuring a clean environment for the mushrooms to grow. As a result, the mushroom yield at the center has increased significantly, providing a sufficient supply of high-quality food for the patients’ meals and even for the local restaurants in the future.

Additionally, the program also creates opportunities for over 50 patients to participate directly or indirectly in mushroom production activities. This work not only serves as an effective form of psychological therapy, helping patients improve their mental state, but also gives them a sense of purpose and usefulness in life. By engaging in various stages of mushroom growing, patients also learn basic labor skills, develop discipline, and foster a sense of responsibility.

On behalf of the center, Hearts for Hue would sincerely thank DOVE Fund for their enormous support to our community.
