Hearts For Hue is delighted to announce that two students, Nguyen Thi Nhu Y and Dang Trung Hieu, have successfully entered their dream university thanks to their efforts as well as the sponsorship of VESAF scholarships.
We are pleased to announce that two students, Nguyen Thi Nhu Y and Dang Trung Hieu, VESAF scholarship recipients, have now entered university. The VESAF Scholarship Program is thrilled to help Nhu Y and Trung Hieu continue on their education journey from high school to higher education in 2022. The scholarship program helps provide financial assistance to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty.
Nguyen Thi Nhu Y
Nguyen Thi Nhu Y (2004), a recipient of a VESAF scholarship for two consecutive years in high school, has just entered her dream university with her determination. Nhu Y’s family lives in a poor household in Phu Vang commune. Her parents are farmers with an unstable and low source of income because of frequent crop failure. Moreover, Nhu Y has suffered from illness for 6 years and has not yet recovered; her health is still weak. However, she never gave up on her education although her life was associated with hardship from when she was a little child. Understanding the difficulty she has faced as well as her endeavor; VESAF scholarships supported Nguyen Thi Nhu Y in high school and continues to support her studies at the Hue School of Agriculture and Forestry – Hue University from 2022-2023.

Dang Trung Hieu
Another high academic achiever, Dang Trung Hieu (2004) also continues to be supported by VESAF scholarships in 2023 at the Vietnam-Korea School of Communication technology – Da Nang University. Hieu’s family is one of the poorest households in the Phu Vang Community. He is an orphan and now living with his elderly grandmother, who has raised him since childhood. His grandmother had to glean rice, sell chickens for a living, and grow him with all her might. It could be said that their lives have many difficulties and hardships, but he still perseveres in learning. Two years in a row, he achieved the title of an excellent student when receiving a scholarship from VESAF. It is bright that he will continue to receive a scholarship from VESAF in the coming years at the university.

ABOUT THE VESAF SCHOLARSHIP
The VESAF scholarship program has been implemented since 2018 under the sponsorship of VESAF, NFP (Vietnam Educational and Social Assistance Foundation), USA. The scholarship value is allocated based on the level of study, each student from 50 USD to 400 USD per year. The scholarship is aimed at students who are qualify with the following criteria: Good and laborious students (a), good conduct (b), coming from disadvantaged families or confronting financial and medical difficulties (c), and are residing in Thua Thien Hue or coming from Quang Nam province (d).
Since 2018, in partnership with Hearts For Hue, VESAF, NFP has provided merit-based scholarships for underprivileged students to improve access to education. In the academic year 2021 – 2022, VESAF has supported 160 students at Xuan Loc Primary School, Vinh Phu Secondary School, Ha Trung High School, and 76 students from Hue and Danang Universities.
For the academic year 2022-2023, the VESAF scholarship is still sponsoring a total of 237 students at Xuan Loc Primary School, Vinh Phu Secondary School, Ha Trung High School, also Hue and Danang Universities. In particular, students who transfer (e.g. from high school to university) always receive scholarships to fund their academic efforts. We are very pleased that the sponsorship of VESAF scholarships not only helps them to pay their tuition fees but also motivates them to strive in the future.
