Since 2011, under the sponsorship of the DOVE Fund, Hearts for Hue in collaboration with the People’s Committee of the Vy Da Ward has been implementing a Microfinance Program with the main purpose of creating jobs and generating income for the disadvantaged people.
The Microfinance Project offers the range loans of 7.000.000dvn to 15.000.000dvn to disadvantaged people of impoverished communes for a wide range of purposes such as raincoat making, clam rice making and running small enterprises. Over the past 10 years, the Program has represented a practical and significant benefit for 229 participants in Vy Da Ward, with the total fund of 1.057.790.000vnd.
Mrs Nguyen Thi Hue lives at village 6 of Vy Da ward. Her family earns income from selling Pho – rice noodles soup. Her small shop open daily at 4:00pm to serve tea-time for students and dinner for families which don’t have time to cook. Pho is one of popular dish in Vietnam and meets taste of both children and adults so it is sale not only for morning breakfast, but for tea-time or dinner.
With the introduction from members of local Women Union, she has started joining the Program since 2014 and she is now in fourth round. Since joining our program, Mrs Hue has borrowed 36 million dong (1,600USD). With her loan capital, she was able to open a small shop selling Pho. With the higher income she receives, Mrs Hue is now able to pay for children education fee, buy new home facilities and reserve a saving amount for family. Thanks to the Program, her family has a sustainable income to improve her family living condition.
In order to raise more income, Mrs. Hue plans to keep joining the program in fifth round to buy more tables, chairs, bowls as well as upscale amount of ingredients to cook Pho. The reason is she wants to sell Pho in the morning to serve breakfast. If she opens the shop all day, she estimates her income will reach from 120,000vnd to 180,000vnd daily.
