Recent studies have found that frequent hand washing with clean water and soap will help to reduce the risk of diarrhea by about 47% and by 30% for acute respiratory infections. However, the handwashing system in many schools in Thua Thien Hue province still below the standard and it does not meet the needs of all students and teachers. Mrs Thang – the principal of Huong Vinh 3 Primary school shared: “We really need the handwashing stations for children after several school activities such as physical lessons, extra activities, break times and school cleaning activities, particularly in the Covid 19 pandemic prevention”
Understanding the difficulties that many schools have been facing , VESAF, NFP has funded the construction of an appropriate handwashing station to meet the needs of over 2000 students in 10 primary schools. Currently, there are five schools that have completed their construction and put it into operation. These others will be built in next time. With a big grin, Mrs Thang said: “We are overjoyed to have a new, spacious and airy handwashing station which we have been dreaming for a long time.” Nguyen Ba Truc Nhan – a student in grade 5 shared with us “I am very happy to have a handwashing station in our school. It’s a spacious place which sufficient for everyone. There are so many water taps for all children. We would like to thanks VESAF for your support.
