From 29th August to 8th September 2018, Hearts for Hue in association with the Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore) implemented the Youth Expedition Project in Sao Mai 2 Kindergarten within a framework of Hearts For Hue’s Community Service Program. A group of 2 staff and 24 students contributed their own effort to make a change to the kindergarten’s facilities.
The volunteers spent 10 days to build an activity hall as well as taught basic English for children in the kindergarten which is located around 15km from Hue City. Moreover, with the support of Vietnamese Volunteers, H4H organized some Vietnam Real Experience activities such as visiting local disadvantaged households, harvesting rice and Hue famous historical monuments.
Thanks to these activities, they could obtain a better understanding in regard to Vietnam culture, especially the life style in the countryside.
In the closing ceremony, the principal expressed her gratitude to the Singaporeans volunteers for the effort they have made to the kindergarten. She shared with us “Over the past many years, as one of the poorest kindergarten in the community, the kindergarten has always been lack of quality facilities, particularly; the all the teachers, parents and children here have been dreaming of a community space where children are able to gather together and playing group activities.
Group activities are one of the most important activities which not only assist children to have good health but also develop of all aspects of children. Additionally, it is also a place for all members of a school tend to gather for group activities such as football march, the grand opening for a new school course, or mid-autumn festival for all the children and parents. Thanks to the Singaporean Volunteers support, our dream comes true. I would like to say thanks to the volunteers for your contribution to our school.
