In collaboration with The Peoples Committee of Huong Nguyen commune and Hue Water Company, and under the sponsorship of the Rotary Foundation, Hearts For Hue is pleased to announce the completion of their Water Supply System & Environmental Sanitation Project in The Huong Nguyen Commune.
The project, beginning in September 2017, took 7 months to complete and has benefited 1,252 people in 316 households. Before the project was implemented, residents in this ethnic minority community did not have access to clean water in their households and lacked hygienic latrines, leading to contamination of the nearby river. By providing clean water systems, building hygienic latrines and raising community awareness about environmental sanitation, Hearts for Hue hopes to improve the lives of the ethnic minority
living in this community.
On May 9th, 2017, the closing ceremony for the Water Supply System amp; Environmental Sanitation Project took place with representatives from Hearts for Hue, The People Committee of Huong Nguyen, and The Hue Water Company. The ceremony brought together the Huong Nguyen local people to celebrate the success of the project and congratulate the project’s partners.
Representatives from the organizations involved gave speeches addressing the project and Hearts for Hue awarded gifts to members of the Huong Nguyen community who contributed greatly towards the success of the project.
Mr. Ho Van Tam, chairman of People Committee, gave a thank you speech on behalf of people of the Huong Nguyen commune, “This project has brought positive impact to our community. The residents of Huong Nguyen now have clean water and hygienic latrines for their daily life”.
Mr. Truong Trong Khanh, chairman of Hearts for Hue, presented a report regarding the implementation process and results of the project, “During our 8 months project we have installed a clean water system for 316 households, built 53 hygienic latrines and organized 13 training sessions regarding clean water and environmental sanitation”.
