Virtual Volunteer Project 2021

In October 2021, Hearts for Hue is very proud to continue the relationship with Singapore Management University to conduct a Project Hue Hope 11 with 14 international volunteers. The Project Hue Hope 11 is under the leadership of Mr Phua Yi Jian, Mr Duncan Lim Liang Wei, Ms Kelicia Ong Sze Ching and Mr Leong Chi Yui.

The virtual teaching project is an initiative within the framework of the Community Service Program, which is conducted particularly in Covid 19 Pandemic. The project’s purpose is to motivate the disadvantaged students in Quang Thanh Primary School to learn English through virtual means with interactive methods. All the lessons were designed to level – appropriate for the students. The teaching packages are flexible, scalable and easily implemented across different age groups. During 10 days, the international volunteers provided 10 lessons that concentrated on daily conversation such as food and drink, transportation, health, hygienic practices, and so on. Additionally, the team has been creative in their remote classroom practices to enhance the essential learning interactions through games, art crafts and pop quizzes with the prizes. The project won’t be successful without the assistance of Vietnamese Volunteers. All the domestic volunteers are well English speakers from Hue University. No matter how bad weather was in Hue, the Vietnamese volunteers traveled all the way through to Quang Thanh Primary School for teaching sessions.

Project Hue Hope 11 has inspired the student’s eagerness to learn English through utilitarian lessons. Also, it brought about meaningful classes that are practical and easily incorporated into the lives of these students, preparing them for the global stage and enhancing their learning.

At the end of the project, Ms Vi – Vice Principal of Quang Thanh Primary School expressed her deep gratitude to the project. “Over the past 20 days, I have witnessed the team’s effort to build up the lessons for each class. We are  very glad that we can see the bright grin on each student’s face after the lessons.”

Hearts for Hue would like to thank all the international and domestic volunteers for their enormous effort in the project. We are looking forward to seeing more projects in the future.
