Support program for people with disabilities through scholarships and assistance starting chicken farms for families in difficult circumstances in Huong Van Ward and Quang Phu Commune, Thua Thien Hue Province.
Children with disabilities received scholarships and support programs. Families received support and training to build chicken coops and were provided with chickens to start their household farm.
General Information
Hương Vân is a semi-mountainous subdistrict located in Hương Trà Town, Thừa Thiên Huế Province, with a total population of 8,100 people across 1,782 households. The entire subdistrict has 285 people with disabilities, including mobility impairments, hearing and speech impairments, visual impairments, neurological and mental disorders, intellectual disabilities, and other disabilities. Meanwhile, Quảng Phú Commune, a disadvantaged area in Quảng Điền District, has 405 people with disabilities out of a total population of 12,055.
With sponsorship from Vietbay Teens, through the Bông Sen Charity Fund, the Huế Hearts Fund has collaborated with the People’s Committee of Quảng Phú Commune, the Quảng Phú Women’s Union, the People’s Committee of Hương Vân Subdistrict, Hương Vân Primary School, and Nguyễn Khoa Đăng Secondary School to implement scholarship programs and poultry farming support for families with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances in these two areas.
Implemented activities:
Scholarship Program
- Number of grants provided: 65 children with disabilities, from poor or near-poor households, or children of families with disabilities in poverty or near-poverty.
- Grant amount: 2,500,000 VND per child per year, used to cover tuition fees, health insurance, accident insurance, and purchase of school supplies such as notebooks, pens, and rulers. The remaining amount is given to the students in cash.
- Locations: Quảng Phú Commune and Hương Vân Subdistrict.
1.1 Hương Vân Subdistrict: On September 9, 2024, grants were distributed to 15 students from Hương Vân Primary School and 15 students from Nguyễn Khoa Đăng Secondary School.

Poultry Farming Support Program:
- Number of beneficiary families: 10 families with disabilities
- Support location: Quảng Phú Commune, Quảng Điền District
- Program scale: Each family receives support to build one chicken coop (12 m²), 50 chicks, animal feed, veterinary medicine, and poultry farming training.

Distribution of Chicks
On October 4, 2024, the Fund, in collaboration with the Quảng Phú Commune People’s Committee, distributed chicks, feed, feeding trays, drinking trays, and veterinary medicine to 10 households.
Before receiving the chicks, the 10 families participated in training sessions where they were provided with experience, knowledge, and essential skills for effective and sustainable poultry farming.
