Ngee Ann Polytechnic: September 2016

From 1 to 9 September 2016, Hearts For Hue successfully organized a Community Service Program for 25 students and 3 staff from Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

This year, Ngee Ann Poly Students continued to complete the second phase of a fence-building project at Quang Cong Kindergarten, Quang Dien Commune. During the ten hard working days, the Singaporeans students accompanied by Vietnamese Volunteers built the second phase of the fence surrounding the kindergarten. It contributed to creating a safe, green and beautiful learning environment for the children in the kindergarten.

In addition, the volunteers held English classes for students in To Huu High School and children in Quang Cong Kindergarten through useful and interesting English lessons with the main purpose to build up the Vietnamese Students’ confidence so that they could practice their English speaking and listening skills. Moreover, Hearts For Hue also organized for the volunteers to experience local activities such as harvesting rice, visiting a fishing factory, visiting a local beach and Hue famous historical monuments.  Thanks to these activities, they could obtain a better understanding in regard to Vietnam culture, especially the life style in the countryside. Furthermore, this was also a great opportunity for Vietnam’s young generation to assist their community and strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore.

Hearts For Hue would like to say thank you so much to the Singapore Volunteers, Vietnamese Volunteers, staff of the kindergarten and high school as well as the local authorities who made this project a success.
