The Microfinance Program funded by Vesaf through Hearts for Hue has been implemented in Quang Phu Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province since 2023. The program aims to support low-income households in developing their small businesses and production activities. A total of 119 women have participated in the program, each receiving a loan of 15,000,000 VND with a repayment period of 24 months. The women have used these funds for various income-generating activities such as livestock raising, small trading, handicrafts, and other service-based businesses to build stable and sustainable livelihoods for their families.
In addition to providing microloans, the program also encourages women to save a small amount on a monthly basis. Today, June 20, 2025, Hearts for Hue, in collaboration with the Quang Phu Commune Women’s Union – the local implementing partner – held a savings payout event for the women who have actively participated in the savings component throughout the program.
Savings play a crucial role for women in microfinance programs.
Regular saving helps women build financial discipline, take more control over their household budgets, and respond better to unexpected situations such as illness, crop failure, or children’s education expenses. Moreover, these savings provide an additional resource that allows women to reinvest or expand their businesses once their loan cycle ends. The combination of microloans and savings has empowered many women, not only by improving their economic condition but also by enhancing their role in the family and community. It enables them to plan a better future for themselves and their children with greater confidence.
