From December 9 to 21, 2024, Hearts For Hue in collaboration with Singapore Management University (SMU), organized the meaningful Volunteer Program name HUEHOPE 14 in Thua Thien Hue province. The program has brought practical activities such as doors windows painting of classrooms, door system renovations, English teaching for students at Quang Phu Primary School, and cultural exchange with students from Hue University of Economics.
Improving Facilities at Quang Phu Primary School
A significant part of the program focused on improving the infrastructure of Quang Phu Primary School, which has faced challenges in providing adequate learning conditions. The dedicated volunteers from Singapore Management University worked on repainting doors, windows of classrooms , replacing outdated door systems, and ensuring the learning spaces were cleaner, brighter, and more welcoming.
These changes not only enhanced the learning environment but also brought joy and excitement to the students and teachers. “We are deeply grateful for the support from Hearts For Hue and the Singaporean students. Their efforts have given our school a fresh, vibrant look, motivating us to continue teaching and learning better,” said Principal Pham Van Quy.
Teaching English and Inspiring a Love for Learning
In addition to improving facilities, the volunteer team organized engaging and educational English lessons for primary students. SMU students designed creative lesson plans with interactive activities, games, and songs, making it easier and more enjoyable for the children to learn English.
These classes were not just an opportunity to improve communication skills but also ignited a passion for learning, opening doors for the students to connect with the wider world.
Cultural Exchange at Hue University of Economics
Alongside activities at Quang Phu Primary School, the volunteers spent time engaging in cultural exchanges with students from Hue University of Economics. The sessions included discussions, group activities, and lively cultural performances that created an atmosphere of excitement and friendliness.
Students from both sides shared insights into their cultures, lifestyles, and education systems, fostering mutual understanding and building meaningful relationships. “These exchanges are incredibly meaningful. We’ve learned a lot from the Singaporean students, from communication skills to organizing activities,” shared a student from Hue University of Economics.
Spreading Values and the Spirit of Volunteerism
This volunteer program stands as a testament to the power of international cooperation and sharing. The activities not only brought tangible benefits but also showcased a spirit of responsibility and connection between organizations and individuals from both countries.
Hears For Hue hopes that such journeys will continue and grow, bringing even more positive changes to communities and creating unforgettable memories for both the volunteers and local residents.
