Welcome to Hearts For Hue’s October 2018 Newsletter. 

Dear Donors, Colleagues, and Friends,

First of all, Hearts For Hue would like to send our warmest greetings and best wishes to all of you and express our sincere thanks for your support of disadvantaged people in Vietnam. 

We would like to share with you an overview of what our organization was doing from July to October 2018

 Please take a look at our project highlights below:

The first delivery of chickens completed. Hearts For Hue and PiCCA implementing a new project ” Improving the living quality of people with disabilities in Vinh Phu Commune through chicken raising”

From July 2018 to 31st December 2019 Hearts For Hue, with the sponsorship of PICCA (Australia), will implement the project “Improving the living quality of people with disabilities in Vinh Phu Commune through chicken raising”

This project aims that families with one or more members suffering disabilities can improve their living standards by generating income through the raising of chickens. The final goal is to distribute in Vihn Phu Commune 4.500 chickens (21 days old) among 50 families with one or more members suffering disabilities. See more

Distributed “Ngay Mai Scholarships” for underprivileged students in Thua Thien Hue Province

On three days the 21st, 24th of August 2018 and 20th of September 2018, Hearts For Hue in collaboration with Vinh Phu Community People’s Committee distributed 23 “Ngày Mai Scholarships” for the school year 2018/19 to 23 underprivileged students in Vinh Phu Community and in Hue City. These Scholarships aim to allow underprivileged students to attend school so they can fully develop their personalities in a nice environment. See more

 

 

 

The training session of pig raising for the families affected by Agent Orange in Hong Trung Commune, A Luoi District

On August 18 th, 2018, under the sponsorship of Veterans For Peace chapter 160, Hearts For Hue successfully organized the training course of pig raising for the families affected by Agent Orange in Hong Trung Commune, A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province. Those participating in the training were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Ba – Head of Department of Animal Husbandry; Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Khanh, Chairman of Hearts For Hue, Mr. Ho Van Khuech – Chairman of Hong Trung People’s Committee and 20 Agent Orange families. VESAF Scholarship 2018-2019

On the occasion of school opening day of 15/8/2018 of the 2018-2019 year, Hearts For Hue in collaboration with Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry organized the ceremony of Distributed VESAF scholarships to 12 students in need, who have achieved good academic standings even though their families suffer from financial and/or medical hardship.

The Scholarship Program is sponsored by VESAF, NFP (USA) with a total amount of 3,600 USD ( 82,800,000 VND) for 12 scholarships, each scholarship is 300 USD per school year. These students will continue to receive VESAF scholarships until graduation if they have achieved good academic results and good conduct in the next school years. See more

Youth Expedition Project 2018

From 29th August to 8th September 2018, Hearts for Hue in association with the Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore) implemented the Youth Expedition Project in Sao Mai 2 Kindergarten within a framework of Hearts For Hue’s Community Service Program. A group of 2 staff and 24 students contributed their own effort to make a change to the kindergarten’s facilities. See more

 

 

 

We Are Bamboo Volunteer Program in September: Mr Nguyen An’s Family

From 13th to 15th September 2018,  Hearts for Hue cooperated with We are Bamboo Travel Company successful organized the Volunteer Program in Thua Thien Hue Province. A group of   22 enthusiastic volunteers (included 2 staff of We Are Bamboo) has given a hand for Mr. Nguyen An’s family at Group 1, Huong Van Ward, Huong Tra Town. This family has been trapped an extremely difficult situation: Mr. Nguyen An and his wife had a respiratory disease and mental illness due to the impact of pesticides when Mr. An and his wife were working as employees in the farm. His house was built thanks to the support of the local government.  See more

Construction of six first hygienic latrines completed in Hong Thuy Commune, A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province.

Under the sponsorship of The D.O.V.E FUND, Hearts for Hue has cooperated with People’s Committee of Hong Thuy commune to build 33 hygienic latrines for local people. The six first hygienic latrine were completed in Aug 17th 2018. See more
