To provide additional assistance to the patients with mental illness of The Social Center, Hearts For Hue has continued to formula a goat raising model at Thua Thien Hue Social Center under the sponsorship of the DOVE Fund.

On 30th May 2019, under the sponsorship of the DOVE Fund, Hearts For Hue in conjunction with Professor Doctor Nguyen Xuan Ba – Dean of Faculty of Husbandry and Veterinary of Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, delivered a training session on goat raising techniques. Those participated in the training including Mr Ngo Duy Binh – the Director of Thua Thien Hue Social Center and five Center’s staff, Mr Truong Trong Khanh – Hearts For Hue Chairman, and fifty people with mental illness.

Professor Nguyen Xuan Ba started a training session by analyzing the advantaged and disadvantaged of raising goat based on local situation. Mr Ba also provided some knowledge about technical foster care by following activities:

–           How to select a good breed of goat

–           Breeding season for goats

–           How to take care of  gestated goats and baby goats

–           How to make food based on taking advantage of the available  food resource in the community

–           Goat care and nurturing techniques

–           The extremely important role of making goat shelter

At the end of the training, we took a tour and visited a temporary goat shelter in order to directly instruct the staff in ways to build a new shelter that is appropriate for the breeding pattern which program has provided.

The new goat shelter construction will be expected to complete and put into operation by July 2019. According to the plan, after goat shelter completed,  the program will provide 2 male goats, 12 female goats in which 6 goats contributed by the social center and  one more training session on preventing the common disease will be delivered to the Social Center.

Hearts for Hue would like to express our gratitude to the DOVE Fund for the continuous supporting for the patients in the Thua Thien Hue Social Center.

Hearts For Hue.
