Community Service Program May 2019

Since 2013, Hearts For Hue (H4H) has worked with Singapore Management University as a facilitator to organize Community service projects for their students.

From 29th April to 13th  May 2019, three groups of more than 70 SMU students under the assistance of Hearts For Hue came to Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam to conduct three different projects which are:

–      Project Phoniksa IV (SMU) at Quang Cong Kindergarten, Quang Quang Dien district.

–      Project Hue Dream IX (SMU) at Huong Xuan Primary School, Huong Tra District

–      Project Triveria VI (SMU) at Quang Thanh Primary School, Quang Dien District

The international volunteers along with the support of 30 local volunteers focused on fence and green library construction for kindergartens and primary school. In order to improve the studying quality for children in the countryside, all the groups putted their enormous effort on building construction. Moreover, with the well-prepared English lessons, the students organized several interested games to inspire all children to learn English.

As a result, thanks to volunteers’ hard work, there are one newly-built fence and 2 green libraries which help the in-need schools create safe and inspirational learning environment for students.

In addition to activities of projects, volunteers also had the chance to participate in cultural exchange with Hue University students, to visit some famous historical monuments in Hue and to have days out to visit some local houses. These activities aim to give Singaporean volunteers a better understanding of life in rural areas in particular and Vietnamese culture in general.

Hearts for  Hue is very pleased to be a companion of SMU students to facilitate them contribute to the community. On behalf of Hearts For Hue, we would like to express our gratitude for the great contribution of SMU students.
