On 5th, 6th and 8th August 2016, The Bamboo Project volunteers in collaboration with Hearts for Hue successfully refurbished the Dong Phu kindergarten, located in Quang An commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province.
A team of 22 international volunteers from the UK, 5 Vietnamese volunteers and school staff repainted school’s interior and exterior walls, its fence and its gate, as well as tiling the inside of the two classrooms walls with the support of professional workers. With enthusiasm and hard-working spirit, the whole team was satisfied with the amazing result. The walls became colourful and bright, and the newly painted fence and gate have livened the whole school. The children will be happy to start the new school year this September.
In addition, the volunteers also taught English to primary students in the nearby primary school. They all had a wonderful time together, with lots of educational songs and games. The volunteers also gave encouragement gifts to disadvantaged children who work hard. The English classes have brought the localchildren and the international volunteers together.
In conclusion, the August Bamboo Project was a great success, thanks to the Bamboo team, the local government, the schools staff and students and especially the volunteers. The Dong Phu kindergarten was well refurbished, the primary students had a great time studying English and all volunteers had an amazing experience
